ABOUT US

Our Purpose
We all face the possibility that one day we may no longer be able to care for a much loved pet. This Shelter provides peace of mind for the family that their pet is in a safe, caring environment until an adoptive home is found. All of our pets are vaccinated and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Exceptions only for age or health reasons.

FAQ's
Q: Do you pick up stray or injured animals?
A: No, we are not permitted to do this as it is the job of Animal Control and your tax dollars pay for that service. The OSPCA is responsible for looking after injured or abused animals.  We take in owner-surrendered pets. The Shelter is not Government funded and is run entirely by volunteers.

Q: Where do your animals come from?
A: We accept pets from residents of the Grey Bruce Communities.

Q: How many pets do you have?
A: It is constantly changing at the Shelter but at any given time we can have 12 dogs and about 25 cats plus rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, budgies, hamsters.

Q: Where do your funds come from?
A: We rely on generous donations from the public and local businesses, adoption fees and fundraisers.  There are no paid employees, but we do have bills to pay -  hydro, heating oil, insurance, taxes, etc.
